It's interesting how people get started in naturism. Ron and I both got interested in different ways. Ron says he started way back when he was a late teen and used to swim naked in the family swimming pool late at night. I became interested when I shifted to the Northern Territory from Victoria. Darwin has a free beach and I always enjoyed a visit there, lying in the sun and enjoying a swim in the tropical warm water. I met Ron some 28 years ago in Melbourne and one of our first outings was to a nudist resort at Tocumwal on the Murray River, this place no longer exists as a nudist resort, I loved it and we returned a number of times. This is the beginning of our lifestyle journey in naturism together.

We moved to Yandoit and set up the beginnings of Jajarawong Naturist Retreat in 1985. That's when we finally decided to give up our fully clothed day jobs for a new full time lifestyle in naturism. We purchased our 29ha. property and mud-brick house and decided to leap into tourism. We have built five fully self-contained cottages, all of different materials from mud-brick to corrugated iron, each house was lovingly built by us as owner builders. We have in recent years added both powered and unpowered camping. This environment in both a physical and spiritual way leant itself to the naturist way of life. The property is private and secure and the peace and quiet that we enjoy is now constantly loved by other people with the same inclination as us. This is the beginning and we will tell you more about ourselves and our lifestyle in the not too distant future.

Yandoit
Yandoit, small rural town established during the gold rush period and settled mainly by Swiss-Italians in the late 1850's. Yandoit now has about 60 people and is in the Hepburn Shire and some 160km's North-West of Melbourne. The landscape is hilly with lots of bush. There are a number of small farms, sheep and cattle are the main agricultural pursuits of the farmers. However there are a large number of Yandoit residents who commute to work in surrounding larger towns, like Castlemaine, Daylesford, Ballarat and Bendigo. Yandoit offers travellers a great history and links to the past. The valleys, creeks and bush and the abundant wild life make living here a real joy.
