William Creek heralds itself as the smallest town in Australia.

It was indeed small, with nothing other than a pub (of course), a petrol station, a takeaway food shop, and a small runway offering scenic flights out to Lake Eyre.  Campers are welcome to set up by the airstrip.  The pub alone was worth the stop: its walls and ceilings were papered and decorated with mementos that visitors had left behind.  Identification cards, business cards, licenses, even a few parking tickets.  A woman from Barcelona had left her bra hanging from the ceiling, a proud testament to her ample proportions.  Several other ladies had left various lingerie items behind, but as I had no knickers to spare, I declined to add to the collection.  There were hats and t-shirts too, and I have to say that I did pick up a few promising redecorating ideas while I was there.

Smallest town

haha! I have to check this place out now. The smallest town I think I have been to was Eucla, on the border of WA and South Australia on the Nullabor, pretty close to the same size, but I think this one takes the cake ...

I'm pretty sure I spent a night at Eucla when we crossed the Nullarbor from West Australia to South Australia a few years back. From memory, when travelling east, once you cross the border, just past Eucla, the scenery starts to improve and you spend a lot more of the drive over looking the ocean and the Great Australian bite. I only recall the road house come caravan/camping spot at Eucla. Do you recall anything else at Eucla of interest?

not really ..

.. that's what I mean :) at the time I went across, they had one of their hottest days on record, 52C in the shade!! We had wet towels covering the windows of the car to keep out the sun, and the only thing I remember of the place was airconditioned hotel comfort :)
