Australia Day Long Weekend - Day One

Boats are the best thing in the world to tow when it comes to transporting a family and all their possessions. So we packed the tinny to the brim, installed my Sister's DVD player in the car for the kids and wandered off to Echuca, two hours later than I had expected to depart.... Destination Wimbi Resort, just out of Moama township on the New South Wales side of the river.

We were totally against DVD players in the car. Kids don't need them, I was thinking. They get enough TV at home and what is wrong with looking out the window counting sign posts or Volkswagons? Thats what we did on long trips, as kids.

How wrong I could be....In car DVD's are so good, hardly a word from our two for 3 hours. They certainly make driving as a parent an almost pleasurable experience.

Moving forward, it rained all day on the drive up to Echuca though it was still warm. We arrived some time in the afternoon, settled in and got to the business of skiing and catching up with friends.

The trip this year for Australia day weekend spanned from Thursday the 24th of Jan to Wednesday the 30th. More a week than a weekend really. 7 couples and kids, 22 of us in all (I think), 2 speed boats, 1 tinny, cold drinks and lots of big boys toys courtesy of the Trembaths....
