Gough Whitlam's boyhood home

I was taken on a walk of the Canberra suburb of Forrest and on the corner of Melbourne Avenue and Empire Circuit stood the boyhood home of Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam (1972-1975).

Beyond having the house pointed out to me and photographing it as best I could, I don't know a great deal more. Boyhood home of Gough Whitlam, Australian PM 1972-1975, another view Presumably Gough lived there during the time when his father Fred Whitlam was Commonwealth Crown Solicitor. Exactly what years Gough lived in the house I need to find out.  Perhaps someone reading this blog might add some crucial details.  Nor do I know anything at this stage about the house itself, when it was built and who designed it.  Although Gough was educated in Canberra and then at Sydney University Law School he was actually born in the Melbourne suburb of Kew.Boyhood home of Gough Whitlam, Australian PM 1972-1975
