Calm beach for toddlers to take a dip and shaded playground close by

We had a family holiday last year in Maroochydore and have decided to go up again this year.  The front beach on the inlet is generally very calm and great place for toddlers to have a dip.  The surf beach is around the corner for the adults.  There is a sensational playground on the beachfront that has a sunshade and lots of new equipment.

If you have a car there are plenty of excursions to do from Maroochydore (or even take a bus).  The Australia Zoo isn't too far for a fun day trip.  The Eumundi Market is great for shopping every Wednesday and Saturday and I noticed there is a Strawberry Festival there this September and of course Noosa is not too far away.

You can hire bikes from the local bike shop for a tour of the town.  There are bikes available with toddler seats.

Activities

We are heading up next week with our three kids... there are a lot of watersport activities on the Maroochy river (family jetski hire and also tube rides/waterskiing activities). There is also a kids fun park on the riverfront with mini-golf, bumper-boats and rock climbing. Nearby Maloolaba has Underwater world which would be great for kids. The other thing we looked into was airplane scenic flights which are available from the Sunshine coast airport, although not sure on the cost of this. Not sure what we'll end up doing but there's plenty of choice.
