Bairnsdale: This Gippsland town lies on the Mitchell River flats at the tip of Lake King, 280km east of Melbourne. Bairnsdale and the surrounding district is promoted as the 'Victorian Riviera' with winter temperatures up to 6C warmer than Melbourne. Situated at the junction of the Princes Hwy, the Great Alpine Rd and the road east to Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding region.
