Eildon
- In a region that once thrived on timber and goldmining, Eildon, 130km NE of Melbourne, was built in the 1950s to house employees of the Lake Eildon Dam project. Construction of the dam created Lake Eildon; officially opened 1956; the largest artificial lake in Victoria and the main storage for the vast Goulburn Irrigation System. The town is almost surrounded by Lake Eildon NP (Frasers NP).
