What do the star ratings represent?

This FAQ applies to: Any version.

How do I work out what the star ratings represent, and the best way to organise how I rate content?

Planbooktravel used and algorithm to resolve the front page collections of ratings from users. The algorithm is not a reflection directly of the user ratings, but a complex algorithm to ensure ratings on items truly reflect both the number of times an item is rated, as well as the rating average from users. We do this to ensure you get a good idea of the overall ratings for a Photo or Review compared to others on the site.

Personal ratings on items are clearly listed on the item itself, and gives you a deeper look into the value of the ratings.

We suggest you rate items based on the following, but of course, that's totally up to you ;)

5 Stars : These have to be the exemplars -- the best reviews I've ever read, would be glad to read again.

4 Stars : These have to be really good reviews -- most of them I'm willing to read again and I promote them by ratings or emailed to friends.

3 Stars : These are decent reviews. I feel like recommending this to friends who would be interested.

2 Stars : This category is for reviews that are just not quite good enough, or are slightly disappointing. Not bad, or disliked, but just somewhat disappointing.

1 Stars : These are reviews that I don't like, or worse, I hate.
