Picturesque Stirk Park, situated on the corner of Kalamunda and Canning roads in Kalamunda, is probably the most popular public reserve in the hills area. Coin-operated electric barbecues, children's playground facilities, car parking area ensures that the park offers passive recreation to cater for people of all age groups.

It is now a popular venue for wedding receptions and family outings, and is an ideal place for a picnic or a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Among the many attractions to be found when visiting Stirk Park is the historic Stirk Cottage built from mud-brick in 1881, and the home of the first settler of the area.

The cottage has been restored to its original state and supplemented with furniture and other items of the period, and stands as an authentic relic of the 19th century.

This unique chess centre uses chess pieces ranging from 534 millimetres to 915 millimetres in height, on a board which is marked out on the brick pavement.

Those visiting the scenic park can walk along the paved promenade and view the numerous varieties of introduced and native trees, observe the running waterways and the ornamental lake, or simply relax under the pergolas on the park benches.

Other points of interest within the park include an honour avenue where trees have been planted in commemoration of fallen servicemen, a performance sound shell, three bowling greens, and a recently upgraded adventure playground for children of all ages.

Stirk Park has a convenient parking area, public conveniences, and ample outdoor seating, making it an excellent venue for a family outing, barbecue or just plain relaxation for people of all ages.
