Return to Cowes

This Race Meeting was created after PIARCs return as a Race Promoter in 1990, with the first 7 years (1991 to 1997) being known as The Phillip Island Victorian Championship Meeting until 1998 when the Victorian Motor Racing Championship Series commenced and the event needed a new name.

PIARC owned the trademark Island Magic, hence the meeting became Island Magic , and since then it has become iconic as a fun way to wind up the year with fantastic racing action from many categories.

With the return in 1991, five of PIARCs traditional event titles were revived, The Endeavour Cup, The 50K Plate, The Matthew Flinders Plate & The Victorian Road Racing Championship.

These events with great histories dating back to the 1960 s were joined by 5 new events, which now have their own histories dating back to 1991. They are, The Cowes Cup, The Mauri Fordham Trophy, The Phillip Island Formula Ford Trophy, The Victorian Historic Touring Car Trophy, The Victorian Tourist Trophy & San Remo Saloon Car Challenge.

The winning history of these landmark events can be viewed at our website above.

This year marks the 18th running of Island Magic and this fantastic achievement could not have been achieved without loyal ongoing sponsors, some of whom now enjoy over 10 years of continuous support for Island Magic, a number of these being Phillip Island tourist destinations including Isola di Capri Italian restaurant, the All Seasons Eco Resort Phillip Island and the Hollywood Hotel, all located in Cowes.

Events in 2008 will be conducted for Sports Cars (1 Hour Enduro), Sports Sedans (50K plate), Formula Ford 1600, Historic Touring Cars, Formula Vees, Improved Production Cars, Porsche 944 Challenge & HQ Holdens.
