Toll House - New Norfolk

The Toll House is a craft gallery at New Norfolk, west of Hobart. New Norfolk is located in the Derwent Valley, 30 minutes north-west of Hobart (33 kilometres/20 miles).

The Toll House showcases locally-made arts and crafts, produce and clothing. Producers and craft workers along the Rivers Run Touring route - which extends from New Norfolk to Derwent Bridge in the state’s west - create all products displayed at the gallery. Crafts include pottery, woodwork, painting and photographs. You can choose from a range of quality Tasmanian produce including honey, jams, Elderflower drinks, olive oil and olives, preserves and fine Tasmanian wines. Locally designed and made clothes and Alpaca fleece products are also available.

The Toll House was constructed in 1841, coinciding with the opening of the first bridge across the Derwent River. Toll money was collected from all travellers until 1874.
