A celebration of wooden boats and maritime traditions on Hobart's historic waterfront

Head down to the shore to see wooden boats galore.

The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is where you will find some of the most wonderful, whimsical examples of Australia's obsession with all things nautical.

Every two years more than 450 wooden craft of all shapes and sizes from mighty 19th square riggers to yachts, steamboats, tiny rowing boats, canoes and dinghies descend upon Hobart docks to show off their ship shape finery.

Wooden boat builders and lovers have many passions maritime history, craft, art, music, and theatre not forgetting fun. You can join in the fun as well as watch the teams compete in the Quick 'n' Dirty Boat Building Competition, the Parade of Sail and model boat demonstrations - as you savour the most succulent seafood.
