The South Australian Whale Centre; A Marine Environment Facility will re-open bigger and better than ever on 1 June 2008, celebrated with the "Whaletime Playtime Festival" held at Warland Reserve. The newly re-developed centre promises to deliver a quality facility which will feature exciting new displays based on the broader theme of the "Marine Environment" including both the historical and current relationship of whales, interactive exhibits on other creatures of the deep including sharks, dolphins and local endangered species.

Joining the South Australian Whale Centre team include; the Department for Environment and Heritage, Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, South Australian Museum, Adelaide Zoo and many more, whose contributions include new exhibits, education programs, information and resources and event support. The South Australian Whale Centre is very excited about these new relationships and looks forward to sharing these new elements with visitors in June.

School, coach and tour groups can still be catered for in the interim and a new range of programs available in the new centre as of June. The public can also contact the South Australian Whale Information Hotline for sighting updates locally and across the state. Please note; when calling the South Australian Whale Information Hotline 1900 WHALES (1900 942 537), calls are charged at 38 cents per minute. Alternatively you can visit our website for sighting details. We look forward to seeing you all during the whale season (May - October).
