John Coles Fly Fishing

My love of fly fishing began back in the UK over 30 years ago. When I arrived in Australia I was surprised by the fly fishing opportunities available on both streams and still water. I fell in love with the Australian bush and those remote and beautiful places that he has been fortunate enough to fish in. In the mid 80’s I began exploring the Cox’s River system and its winter spawning runs, and developed fly patterns and fishing techniques, which proved very successful in this little fished area. I have been teaching fly casting and fly fishing for many years. I am a member of the Professional Fishing Guides and Instructors Association of Australia. I run Sydney's only dedicated Fly Fishing School. I also guide in various locations in NSW.

On the opening weekend I ran a course for beginners to Fly Fishing based at Oberon. On the Friday evening the clouds opened and the district received some much needed rain. It rained on and off for most of the weekend. The streams were all in flood. Some streams dirty up quicker than most.
