DESTINATION: HarveyBordered by the Darling Range and the Indian Ocean, Harvey, 139km south of Perth, is blessed with some of the state's most fertile farmland which supports dairy and beef cattle. Main AttractionsThe Old Railway Station building houses Harvey's Historical Society Museum and on the South West Hwy is the Harvey Internment Camp Memorial, built by prisoners-of-war during the 1940s. Collect the key to the shrine from the information centre. Within the information centre, the Moo Shoppe is home to all things Friesian, promoting the region's dairying industry. Nearby is Stirling's Cottage, a replica of James Stirling's hunting lodge; Capt Stirling selected the town site for settlement in 1829. The cottage also has commentary on May Gibbs, author of the children's classic, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, who lived in Harvey briefly during her childhood. |

The region's picturesque irrigation dams are also recreation and picnic stops, including Harvey Dam, 3km east, Stirling Dam, 17km east, and Five Mile Bridge, 12km east on the Harvey River. Logue Brook Dam, 15km east, offers opportunities for swimming, waterskiing and good trout fishing.
