Warracknabeal

Massive wheat silos mark Warracknabeal's status as the 'Cereal Capital of the Wimmera district'. The town is 378km NW of Melbourne.


Main Attractions

The Historical Centre, in Scott St, displays pioneer memorabilia, including furniture, pictures and documents. Highlights are a pharmaceutical collection from Woolcott's Pharmacy. Warracknabeal's historic streets and buildings can be seen on the Black Arrow Tour, a 5km walk or drive described in a leaflet available from the historical centre or the information centre. There are 23 points of interest, including the town's 6 National Trust-classified buildings: Christ Church, the Commercial Hotel, railway water tower, Court House, log lock-up and Warracknabeal Hotel.

Exhibits in the North Western Agricultural Machinery Museum, just south of town, conveys the history of wheat farming in the district, with exhibits of farm machinery from the last 100yrs.
