DESTINATION: Seymour

Seymour

A Goulburn River town, Seymour is located 89km north of Melbourne. The town services a prosperous rural community and a huge military base. The base is 10km west at Puckapunyal.

Main Attractions

There is a 4km scenic walking trail along the Goulburn River. The Royal Hotel, in Emily St, has been immortalised in Russell Drysdale's painting, Moody's Pub. The old Log Gaol, originally built in 1858 and re-erected behind the old Court House in Emily St, is one of the town's prominent historic buildings. Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, Railway Pl, displays restored steam engines and carriages; occasionally steam train tours are organised. The centre is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. The information centre has brochures on the self-guided historical walk.
