Located 338km NE of Melbourne, the town is one of Australia's best mountain-biking areas, it also attracts bushwalkers, especially in summer. In winter it is a popular base for skiers. Main AttractionsMount Beauty Museum has a 'walk through time' exhibition, a variety of exhibits and historical information about the town. Beside the town is a large regulating pondage, created as part of the Hydro Electric Scheme. It is now a popular recreation area for fishing and watersports. Visitors can also borrow tape recorders and headsets from the information centre and listen to the history of the pondage, while they walk around it. |

Many ski hire businesses and affiliated enterprises service visitors and a coach service runs from the township to Falls Creek, allowing skiers to leave their cars below the slopes. The scenic road from the town to Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains is worthwhile exploring. The drive takes in the Clover Arboretum, the village of Bogong, Lake Guy and Falls Creek. The Mount Beauty to Bright road passes Sullivans Lookout, offering panoramic views, before reaching Tawonga Gap, where there is a rocky picnic and BBQ area with views of the Kiewa Valley and Mount Bogong.
