When in Gembrook there is the Bunyip State Forest, where lyrebirds are readily seen and heard, the forest is full of mountain ash and tree ferns. Enjoy a picnic at Gembrook Bushland Park, a heritage park used as a acclimatisation zone for exotic animals brought into Australia in the 1800s that today features wet sclerophyll forest, Cockatoo and Gembrook creeks and two large redwood trees. Visit Kurth Kiln Park – home to diverse flora and fauna and Kurth Kiln, an historic charcoal burner built to produce a petrol substitute for motor cars during WWII. |
