DESTINATION: DrysdaleThe small township of Drysdale, 18km east of Geelong, services the surrounding farming community on the Bellarine Peninsula. Main AttractionsDrysdale's many historic 19th-century buildings include the Old Court House Museum, the Anglican Church and the War Veteran's Home. The museum is open Sundays, Jan-April. The Bellarine Peninsula Tourist Railway offers rides on the steam train between Drysdale and Queenscliff on weekends and during summer holidays. There are locomotives and carriages dating back to the 1870s on display. |

Neighbouring Clifton Springs was a spa resort town in the 1880s, and featured a pier, baths and a kiosk for holidaymakers. Today, a modern sporting and public facilities complex stands on the site of the original spa hotel. There are several wineries in the area, including Scotchmans Hill Winery, 8km NE. The fishing and seaside resort of Portarlington is 8km NE. At the Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve, 13km east, there is a memorial commemorating the landing by Matthew Flinders in 1802 and John Batman in 1835.
