Ross is an historic, picturesque township on the Midland Hwy in the heart of Tasmania's premier wool-growing area.

Main Attractions

Ross Bridge (1836) is one of Australia's most elegant bridges; it was built by convict labour. The Female Factory Site, off Bond St, operated as a probation station for female convicts between 1847 and 1854. The Tasmanian Wool Centre, a 1988 bicentennial project, includes a heritage museum and sells a wide range of woollen products. Historic sandstone buildings include churches, Man O'Ross Hotel, Ross Bakery Inn, Scotch Thistle Inn and the Old General Store.
