DESTINATION: RoseberyRosebery is a West Coast mining town 29km NE of Zeehan. Gold was discovered here in 1893, and later zinc, lead and copper were found. Rosebery township evolved following the involvement of the Mount Lyell Company in 1927. Main AttractionsParts of the aerial ropeway system that carried ore 7km from the Hercules Mine at Williamsford to Rosebery can be seen near the Murchison Hwy. Lake Pieman and Lake Rosebery are noted fishing spots. |

Surface tours of the Pasminco Mine can be arranged. Tracks for 4WD vehicles and walking tracks diverge from the Williamsford site for the impressive Montezuma Falls at 110m, the highest waterfall in Tasmania. There is a picturesque lake at Tullah, 12km NE, and the historical Wee Georgie Wood Railway is nearby (check operating times).
