Port Sorell

Port Sorell, together with Hawley and Shearwater form a holiday resort 18km east of Devonport. It was one of the first towns established on the North Coast.


Main Attractions

Fishing, sailing, boating and waterskiing are popular on the beautiful estuary. There are walking tracks and picnic facilities in the reserve beside Freers Beach and views over the town from Watch House Hill, off Meredith St.

Nearby attractions

Hawley Beach has safe swimming, good fishing and historic Hawley House (1878). Narawntapu (Asbestos Range) NP is just across the estuary. This is a favourite destination for daytrippers and campers, offering nature walks, isolated sandy beaches, summer wildflowers and views to the mountains of the Western Tiers.
