DESTINATION: Cummins

Serving an important agricultural district on the Lower Eyre Peninsula, Cummins is a small town established in 1902. In 1907 the railway from Port Lincoln arrived, providing a direct link to the region's main economy. The only operating flour mill on the peninsula is located here. The town was named after William Patrick Cummins, a member of the South Australian House of Assembly.

Main Attractions

The unusual double railway line through the centre of town is the venue for the annual Kalamazoo Classic event in April. Kalamazoos are trolleys manually operated with a pumping action that race up and down the dual tracks. Craft, souvenirs and gifts are available at Palm Court Crafts in Bruce Tce. Close by, the Railway Triangle has picnic and BBQ facilities as well as a playground.
