Monto

Regarded as the southern gateway to central Queensland, Monto is 515km from Brisbane and 250km inland from Bundaberg. The town is at the centre of a rich agricultural, dairying and cattle district.

Nearby attractions

Cania Gorge NP is located 25km NW of Monto. It contains many interesting rock formations, including The Leap, Dripping Rock, The Wool Bales, Castle Mountain and Mount Dowgo. Walking tracks lead through the subtropical vegetation to Cathedral and Dragon caves. Waruma Dam is popular for fishing, swimming, waterskiing and sailing; it is 50km south of Monto.
