This popular beach resort, located 106km north of Brisbane, is also the administrative and business centre of the Sunshine Coast.


Main Attractions

Surf beaches are a major attraction for visitors to this city. The surf beach on the ocean side is patrolled. Maroochy River is home to a variety of pleasure craft and waterbirds, including pelicans and swans. The river offers safe swimming year-round and it is possible to camp by the riverbank at Cotton Tree or by the beach at Maroochydore.

There are cruises up the Maroochy River, which pass through sugarcane fields. Bli Bli Castle is a themed tourist attraction, where visitors can explore a dungeon, torture chamber and the doll museum. Top Shots Adventure Park offers indoor rock-climbing, blaster boats and a 36-hole mini-golf course.
