DESTINATION: CurrumbinPart of the Gold Coast, the town of Currumbin is located at the mouth of Currumbin Creek. It has a superb beach and bushland backdrop. Main AttractionsThe National Trust's Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the town's most popular attraction. The sanctuary covers 27ha of bushland and is home to the largest collection of Australian native animals in the world. Visitors are invited to handfeed lorikeets, be photographed with a koala, ride the mini-train and observe the animal nursery. Opposite the sanctuary is Superbee Honey World, where visitors are entertained by The Live Bee Show, and can sample various honey varieties. Honey-making products are also for sale. |

Set in beautiful surroundings, Olson's Bird Gardens, in the Currumbin Valley 9km SW, has many walk-through aviaries. Springbrook NP, 22km SW, offers delightful rainforest bushwalks.
