There are several orchid farms and exotic nurseries nearby. Darwin Crocodile Farm, 18km south on the Stuart Hwy, is Australia's largest, with a population of 7000 saltwater and freshwater crocodiles and even some American alligators. Cox Peninsula Rd, further south, leads to several interesting places, such as the Berry Springs Nature Park (57km from Darwin), which offers safe swimming in a monsoon forest pool. The adjacent Territory Wildlife Park is home to Top End native wildlife in a 400ha bushland setting. To the south of Lakes Resort are Southport Siding Exotic Fruit Farm, Majestic Orchids Farm, Tumbling Waters Tourist Park and Manton Dam.
