A good coastal road links Lennox Head to Ballina and also to Byron Bay, 20km north. Forgotten Country Ecotours offer a range of 1-5 day nature-based scenic adventures exploring the rainforests, rivers, gorges and wilderness areas of the North Coast. Lake Ainsworth is a unique freshwater lake only 50m from the ocean. This popular area is ideal for swimming, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and fishing. South of the town is the Pat Moreton Lookout, which can be reached either via road or through the foreshore reserve. Between May and October migrating whales can frequently be seen offshore.
