DESTINATION: Grafton

Grafton

The Clarence River almost encircles the city of Grafton, the commercial and cultural centre of the Clarence Valley. Beef cattle, timber and tourism are the mainstays of the district, while crops grown include maize, lucerne and sugarcane.

Main Attractions

Known as the 'Jacaranda City', Grafton is famous for its many attractive parks and gardens and the broad streets lined with jacaranda trees. The Jacaranda Festival is held Oct-Nov when the trees bloom, and attract thousands of visitors. The parks remain worthwhile visiting at any time of the year, particularly Market Square in Prince St; Memorial Park and Boulevard at the river end of Prince St; and the See Park Arboretum in Pound St.
