DESTINATION: BulahdelahLying approximately halfway between Newcastle and Taree is the township of Bulahdelah. State forests and Myall Lakes NP are in close proximity, so those who enjoy bushwalking, horseriding, birdwatching, boating, canoeing, sailing, fishing and swimming will find the town a convenient base. Main AttractionsBulahdelah Mountain is known locally as Mount Alum because of its huge deposits of the substance used in medicine, dyeing and many other technical processes. Bulahdelah Mountain Park, approximately 2km down Meade St, offers picnic and BBQ facilities. There are also many walking trails throughout the rainforest leading to picnic areas with good views over Bulahdelah and the Myall Valley and through to the ocean beyond. |

There are over 500km of forest roads throughout the state forests and national parks in the district. Maps and leaflets are available from the information centre. Wang Wauk Forest Drive passes through some of the largest stands of flooded gum trees in New South Wales and leads to a flooded gum (Eucalyptus grandis) known as The Grandis; the tallest tree in New South Wales. Access to this tree is via the Old Pacific Hwy, to the north of Bulahdelah, then right into Stoney Creek Rd. O'Sullivans Gap Flora Reserve is also located in the Wang Wauk Forest, offering bushwalking and picnic facilities.
